Most people looking for a manicure in Alicante have tried two or three places around the Rambla and Mercado Central and come away with much the same experience: a busy room, a technician moving between clients, and a result that starts lifting after eight days. That is not a criticism of those salons — it is what the shared-floor model produces.
Private Nail Studio works differently. It is a single-master studio: one appointment at a time. That structural difference is what makes everything below possible.
The two services, and which you need
Hygienic manicure — €25 (60 minutes)
Nail and cuticle care without coating. The session covers softening and careful removal of the cuticle and pterygium — the thin skin that grows onto the nail plate and causes lifting if left there — plus shaping to the length you want, surface smoothing, and a finishing treatment for the skin.
If your nails are tired after a long run of back-to-back gel, this is often the better booking. A few weeks with nothing on the plate, treated properly, does more good than another layer of colour.
Manicure with gel coating — €45 short, €50 medium (120 minutes)
Everything above, then preparation, base, colour and top coat, each cured under an LED lamp. Two hours is booked for this, and the time is genuinely used — most of it before any colour appears.
On retention. If gel regularly chips or lifts within the first week, the cause is preparation rather than the polish. Cuticle left on the plate, insufficient dehydration, or product touching the skin at the edges will all cause early failure regardless of brand. That is where unhurried appointment time shows up in the result.
Technique
Combined manicure — an electric file for the cuticle area and nail surface, finished with hand instruments where more control is needed. It produces a cleaner cuticle line than either method alone.
The e-file has a reputation for being aggressive, but that comes from technique rather than the tool. At the correct speed with the right bit it removes only dead tissue and leaves living skin untouched. A fully manual approach is available if you prefer it, or if the skin around your nails is thin — say so when you book.

Prices include everything used in the session. If you are arriving with gel from elsewhere, mention it when booking so removal time is set aside — arriving with old coating and no removal slot is the most common cause of a rushed appointment.

Aftercare
- Cuticle oil, daily. A hydrated nail fold is more flexible — fewer hangnails, less lifting at the base. This matters more in Alicante than in a cooler climate.
- Gloves for washing up and cleaning. Hot water plus detergent is the fastest way to break a gel seal. Usually worth several extra days of wear.
- Do not pick at lifting edges. Pulling gel off takes nail plate with it. If something lifts, message me — a single repair is from €5.
- Your nails are not tools. Levering things open is the most common cause of the breaks I repair.
