Private Nail Studio sees one client per appointment. When you arrive, the studio is yours for the hour.
What it actually is
Hand and nail maintenance. No colour, nothing decorative. The session covers:
- Cuticle and nail fold work. Removal of built-up tissue around the nail — the part that eliminates hangnails, rather than treating them one at a time as they tear.
- Nail shaping. Cut and filed to a neutral shape and practical length. Nothing dramatic.
- Surface smoothing. Ridges and rough patches on the plate buffed flat.
- Hard skin around the nails. Reduced where it has built up at the sidewalls — common in anyone who works with their hands or trains.
- Matte finish. Buffed to a clean, flat finish. Deliberately not shiny — a high-gloss buff is the thing that reads as "manicured", and it is skipped for that reason.

On the matte finish. If you would prefer a light protective clear coat — some people do, particularly if the nail surface is fragile or peeling — that is available and still reads as natural. Say so at the start. The default is no product at all.

Between appointments
- Cuticle oil at night. An odd thing to own, but the single most effective fix for recurring hangnails. Thirty seconds before bed.
- Do not cut hangnails with your teeth or clippers. Tearing them opens the nail fold and is how minor infections start. Nail scissors, cut flush, or leave it until the next appointment.
Four to six weeks keeps things stable. Anyone whose hands take heavy use tends to settle on four.
